The Robin Hill Neighborhood Association is participating in the City of Omaha's Neighborhood Cleanup. Our cleanup event will be held on Saturday, May 21 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 45th and Grover Street.

Disposal opportunities for bulky items or difficult to dispose of items such as chairs, couches, old appliances, old computers and printers, old televisions, etc. will be available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Tires will also be collected on May 21, but at a separate site. Email robinhillpool@gmail.com for the locations those items will be collected.

Spring Clean-Up also offers the opportunity to dispose of large limbs and brush not eligible for the City’s weekly yard waste collection. You can pick up a voucher at our site to dispose of your limbs and brush at River City Recycling on May 21 for FREE.

We are also seeking VOLUNTEERS to help us on this day! You will be asked to volunteer a two-hour shift. Please email us for more information.

Whew! We're glad we kept the pool open until Labor Day, because it's hot, hot, hot!

Here are the hours for our final week of the 2013 season:
Today (Wednesday, Aug. 28) -- 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Thursday, Aug. 29 -- 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Friday, Aug. 30 -- 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Saturday, Aug. 31 -- 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Sunday, Sept. 1 -- 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. (Last Official Day!)

All concessions will be half price on Saturday & Sunday -- we've got to clear out the shelves and fridge and freezer!

(Speaking of which -- We are in need of a new refrigerator and chest freezer for next summer. If you have a used one (in good condition) you're parting with, please consider donating it to the pool. Or keep an eye out for us, please.)

We will be having a Closing Party on Labor Day (Monday, Sept. 2) for the lifeguards and their families -- and those who have kept the pool running this summer -- from 12-6. If that includes you, please join us! At 6 p.m., we'll begin draining the pool for the season.

And that's where the work begins. There is a LOT to be done this off-season, and we really need YOU to step up and help out. Our pool is more than 50 years old, and it's showing its age. We need to do pipe repair again before we can open next summer, and this will be both a time commitment (requiring physical labor) and a financial commitment. The pool is in short supply of both.

YOU ARE INVITED to our next Robin Hill Pool Board Meeting. It will be Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 6-7:30 p.m. at the pool. We'll talk about our plans for the pool repair, future renovations, fundraising, and more. We're also looking for volunteers to serve on the pool board. Many hands make light work...please help. (Please reply to this email and let us know if you'll be attending. If you're not able to make this meeting but want to help, reply and let us know that too.)

We know you're busy...everyone is. But if we want the pool to open next summer, there is a significant amount of work to be done. If we don't get this done, we will not be able to open next year.

Just a reminder that pool members are not to loan their pool tags to non-members. When pool members allow non-members to use their tags, it affects all pool members. The pool loses guest fee revenue, which helps support the pool's operation. The more pool members we have, the less we have to charge for each membership. If you allow friends or family members to use your tags, it increases the membership costs for everyone. It also potentially increase your liability. If a non-member is injured while wearing a member tag (and without paying a guest fee and wearing a guest band), our insurance company may deny your insurance claim because of fraud.

Tags that are loaned to non-members may be confiscated and will not be replaced. The pool membership may also be revoked at the board of directors' discretion, and no refund will be offered. So please let everyone in your family know that they are not to loan out their tags.

If you want to bring a guest, the cost is $5/visit, and the guest may visit the pool up to four times/season. (Private pool parties and special events, like Dive-In Movie Nights, do not count against this limit.)

Come on down and hang out at Robin Hill Pool on the Fourth of July! We'll be open from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. (As always, weather permitting!)

The Robin Hill Neighborhood Association is participating for the first time in the City of Omaha's Spring Clean-up Program. Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church at 45th and Grover Street will be the designated neighborhood collection site on Saturday, May 18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. You are asked to use the west entrance (line up along 45th Street beginning at Valley).

This is your chance to get rid of bulky or difficult-to-dispose of items like chairs and couches. We will not be collecting tires or appliances at our site, but can direct you to the appropriate collection locations for those items on May 18. Email RobinHillPool@gmail.com for that information. (Note: Tire disposal is for up to four tires.)

Spring Clean-Up also offers the opportunity to dispose of large limbs and brush not eligible for the City’s weekly yard waste collection. You may pick up a voucher at our site that will cover the disposal cost of tree limbs and brush at River City Recycling (6404 S. 60th Street) on May 18. (You must have a voucher from us in order to dispose of these items for free on that day.)

Items that are not accepted at our clean-up site: Full railroad ties, batteries, rocks, concrete, liquids or toxic materials (no paint, oil or pesticides).

We also need volunteers to help staff the site from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is an excellent opportunity for teenagers needing service hours. Please call Rosemary Weide at (402) 397-1272 to volunteer.
