More than 50 years ago, Robin Hill was a new housing development, and the builders made an offer to the neighbors: We will donate three lots if you start a neighborhood association and raise money to build and operate a pool. The residents accepted the challenge, and the Robin Hill Pool has been a centerpiece of the neighborhood ever since.

Like many older homes, the pool is in need of repair and renovation. This past winter was especially harsh. We have been fortunate in the past not to have major repairs that have delayed the pool's opening. Looking forward, the pool board of directors would like to initiate a capital campaign to address the pool's needs in the short term while developing a plan to ensure the pool's future in the next 50 years.

Most important, before we can open for the 2014 season, we need to raise money to fix the roof on the men's restroom area of the pool building and to address some urgent plumbing issues that are affecting our annual operational costs. (We will also be looking for skilled labor to help with some of the tasks, but your financial support is most critical at this point.)

We need your help. We are asking you to join us for an informational public meeting on Monday, April 28 at 6 p.m. at Aksarben Cinema to learn more.

If you are not able to make the meeting, we ask that you complete this form in advance of the meeting. But as a pool member/owner, we strongly urge you to attend the meeting. While we are looking for support in the wider neighborhood association area, pool members have the most at stake in this fundraising campaign, and we need you on board. Your support will help ensure the pool's success this year and in future years.

We realize that there are many worthy fundraisers you are asked to participate in; however, this is an investment in our neighborhood that offers entertainment to children and adults alike throughout the summer. We are making every effort to open the pool this year in a timely manner, so your feedback is essential, and we appreciate your help.

Please RSVP (yes or no) for the April 28 meeting. Your prompt reply is appreciated.

Sincerely,

The Robin Hill Pool Board of Directors
